White House Tours

Tuesday - Saturday morning only

*At least 1 month advance notice required. Visitors are strongly encouaged to submit a request well in advance.

*Requests may be submitted up to 6 months in advance.

*Tours are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis and are offered free of charge. Due to the volume of requests, the White House is often full several months in advance.

The White House Visitor Center is located at the southeast corner of 15th Street and E Street.  The location is easy to find by looking for three American flags and the blue awnings.  Visitors should allow 20 minutes to one hour to see the videos and exhibits.  The Visitor Center is open 7:30am to 4:00pm seven days a week.  The closest metro station is McPherson Square.

U.S. Capitol Tours

Monday - Saturday 8:30am-4:30pm

*The new 580,000-square foot Capitol Visitor Center recently opened to the public. Congressional staff-led tours of the U.S. Capitol require advance reservations through our office. A limited number of same-day tickets are available at the CVC information desk. Please contact my Washington office at (202) 225-2536 to arrange a tour for up to 15 people during the week. Large group tours (15+ people) or Saturday tours can be arranged through the CVC’s website: www.visitthecapitol.gov.

House/ Senate Gallery

Monday-Friday

House and Senate Galleries are open to the public when either body is in session, and every Monday- Friday, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  Passes are available in our office located in Cannon 115.

Library of Congress Tours

Monday - Saturday

The Library of Congress offers hour-long, fully accessible docent-led tours of the historic Thomas Jefferson Building.  During your tour you will learn about the Building’s symbolic art and architecture and view the grandeur of the Main Reading Room.  Professionally trained docents tell the story of the Library (America’s oldest cultural institution) by talking about its history, its collections (including the Gutenberg Bible), and the services provided to Congress and the nation. 

*Public Tours for individuals and families are available Monday through Saturday at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. (no 3:30 p.m. tour on Saturdays)  No reservations or tickets are required.

Supreme Court

Monday - Friday

1st St. & Maryland Ave. NE. Open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Lectures on the first floor of the courtroom take place every hour on the half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., when the Court is not in session The Supreme Court offers a variety of educational programs. Exhibits, which are changed periodically, and a theater, where a film on the Supreme Court is shown, are located on the ground floor.  To obtain updated information on visiting the Court, including any schedule changes, please call (202) 479-3211

*Visitors are encouraged to call the Supreme Court at 202-479-3211 before they visit to make sure the Court is conducting tours that day.

Kennedy Center

7 Days a Week

Free tours of the Kennedy Center are given by the Friends of the Kennedy Center 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.  As the nation's performing arts center and a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, the Kennedy Center welcomes three million visitors annually. The tour highlights the historic events that led up to the establishment of a national cultural center, as well as an interactive exhibit on the life and presidency of John F. Kennedy.  The tour also includes the majestic Hall of States Hall of Nations and five of the Center's main theaters, including its three grand performance halls (the Concert Hall, Opera House, and Eisenhower Theater.  Public Tours begin approximately every 10 minutes. Walk-ins are welcome.  

The Pentagon

Monday - Friday

*Requests must be submitted a month before the scheduled tour. Requests must include birthdates and city and state of birthplace for every person on the tour.

Bureau of Engraving and Printing Tours

Monday - Friday

*2 months advance notice required.

Free tickets are required for all tours on a first-come, first-served basis. The ticket booth is located on Raoul Wallenberg Place (formerly 15th Street).  They offer same day tickets only. The Ticket Booth opens at 8:00 a.m. - Monday through Friday, and closes when all tickets have been distributed. Lines form early (some days as early as 6:30 a.m.) and tickets go quickly, most days tickets are gone by 8:30 a.m. Please plan accordingly

Voice of America Studio Tours

Monday - Friday

*Free public tours are offered Monday through Friday from 12 pm to 3pm, except federal holidays.  The tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at live broadcasting in radio, television, and the Internet in several of VOA's 44 languages.

The Florida House

 Founded in 1973 by Rhea Chiles as Florida's embassy' in our nation's capital.  Florida House is owned by the people of the state of Florida.
In an historic 1891 townhouse on top of Capitol Hill, Florida House shares its location with the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress and the Folger Shakespeare Library. Florida is the only state to have such a facility and enjoys approximately 10,000 visitors a year.
