Congressional pages have been serving the U.S. House of Representatives for over 200 years.  A Member of Congress, through his or her appropriate leadership office, nominates Page candidates.  Pages are high school juniors who live, work and study in Washington, D.C. and serve the U.S. House of Representatives in its day-to-day operations.

Pages play an provide an invaluable service to Members of Congress and officers of the House.  Page duties consist primarily of delivering correspondence and legislative material within the Congressional complex.  Other duties consist of answering the phones in the Members' Cloakrooms, taking messages for Members, calling them to the phone if they are in the House Chamber and preparing for House Floor sessions.

The page program accepts top students from across the country.  As competition is intense, applying to become a page requires a strong commitment from both the student and his or her parents.  During the school year, pages are required to attend the Page School in addition to their responsibilities in the House.  Pages live in the Page Residence Hall on Capitol Hill and receive a monthly salary.

High school juniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in core academic subjects may apply for the fall or spring semester.  There is no GPA requirement for pages who work during the summer months.

To apply, pages must complete an application and submit three (3) letters of recommendation, an official school transcript, a school report (completed by the student and his or her school guidance counselor), an autobiographical statement, a list of extracurricular activities and a signed parental consent form.

To apply: Please call Congressman Mack's Washington D.C. office at (202) 225-2536 for information about applying to the Page Program, as page appointments are made on a rotating system based on a Member's most recent appointment.
