Education

Looming on the horizon for this Congress is reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.  In 2001, No Child Left Behind encouraged innovation and accountability through federal education funding and I want to continue these advancements while protecting the classroom from onerous federal intervention and narrow metrics.

I believe that state and local authorities should have a more prominent role in education than the federal government. However, parents and families occupy the most important position.  Without support at home, efforts in the classroom will never yield maximum results.

This is why I will continue to work for education policies that allow parents choices and encourage participation in their child’s education.
