Washington D.C. Tours

If you are planning a trip to Washington, DC, Senator Merkley’s office can assist you in planning your visit. Our nation’s capitol is rich with historic landmarks and cultural resources. We can help coordinate tours for you of the White House, the Capitol Building, Library of Congress and countless other museums and galleries. Please submit your tour requests at least three months in advance via the Tour Request form.

Our office is experiencing a high volume of tour requests at this time. Please be aware that it is possible we may not be able to schedule all of your requested tours. Please note that due to security information required for White House tours, these tours require a minimum three-month advance notice. Your patience and understanding is appreciated. Thank you.

Bureau of Engraving and Printing »

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing produces all of the paper currency in the United States. The Bureau is also the largest producer of security documents in the country. Tour times vary depending on season and heightened security alerts. The Bureau’s other printing facility is located in Fort Worth, Texas. The U.S. Capitol Building »

The historic U.S. Capitol Building has held the meetings of the two chambers, the House and the Senate, for over two centuries. Senator Merkley’s office can guide you on a tour of the U.S. Capitol or you can schedule a tour through the newly renovated Capitol Visitor’s Center. Tours of the Capitol Building are available Monday through Saturday from 8:50AM-3:20PM.

Library of Congress »

The Library of Congress is the world’s largest library and the nation’s oldest federal cultural center. It also has museum style interactive exhibits and texts, a range of American historical subjects and is one of DC's most beautiful buildings. Tours of the Library of Congress are available to visitors Monday through Saturday. For more information about touring the Library visit the Library of Congress website.

Kennedy Center for Performing Arts »

The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts is one of the nation’s premiere performing arts centers as well as the living memorial to President John F. Kennedy. Tours are available Monday through Friday from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. For more information, visit the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.

National Archives »

Built in 1934, the National Archives houses countless federal documents, including some of the most important, such as the Declaration of Independence and the Emancipation Proclamation. The National Archives is open from 10 am – 5:30 pm in the fall and winter and from 10 am to 7 pm in the spring and summer. If you're a student or educator and want to research some of the documents at the National Archives, visit the research section of the website. U.S. Supreme Court »

The United States Supreme Court is the highest judicial body in the nation. The building is open from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and closed Saturday, Sunday and Federal holidays. For more information visit the Supreme Court Website.

The White House »

For over 200 years, the White House has been the symbol of the American Presidency and home to Presidents since John Adams. If you’d like to schedule a tour of the White House, Senator Merkley’s office can request tickets on your behalf or you can schedule a tour through the White House website. Considering the high volume of tour requests, please submit your request at a minimum of three months and up to six months in advance.
