Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-San Jose) today announced that over $18.6 million in federal funding has been awarded to San Jose from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
“San Jose needs affordable housing and this is a good start to ensuring that deserving families will have the opportunity to own their own homes,” said Congresswoman Lofgren. “This funding will strengthen our community and provide assistance to those who need it most.”
American Dream Downpayment Initiative (ADDI) $403,914
ADDI will promote homeownership opportunities by providing necessary resources for down payments and closing costs assistance to low-income and minority households
Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) $12,146,000
CDBG provides annual grants to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, expanding economic opportunities, principally low and moderate-income persons.
ESG provides grants to local government entities to improve quality and number of emergency homeless shelters.
HOME Program (HOME) $4,863,492
HOME provides grants to expand supply of decent affordable housing to low income and very-low income families.
Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) $792,000
HOPWA provides housing assistance and related supportive services for projects that benefit low-income persons medically diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and their families.
