WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that information regarding undeliverable tax refunds from the Internal Revenue Service for 2009 is available on his Web site. As of November 22, over $4 million worth of tax refunds for 3,618 residents in Illinois had been returned by the U.S. Postal Service due to mailing address errors.
“I want to spread the word about these unclaimed tax refunds, with the hope that people will see their name on the refund list and call the IRS to claim their check,” said Costello.
If anyone believes that they have an undelivered tax refund due or wants to make sure the IRS has their current address, contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or visit Congressman Costello’s Web site at costello.house.gov.
