Grant Assistance

There are a number of opportunities for grants to municipalities and agencies. These grants are competitive and each will have its own set of guidelines, restictions and schedule.

Federal Grant Assistance
This is a comprehensive list of federal grant resources maintained by the Congressional Research Service (CRS).

Grants.gov
This is the principal web site for finding and applying for federal grant assistance.

Illinois Resource Network
This web site provides guidance for small local governments and non-profit agencies in researching and applying for grants.

Assitance to Firefighters Grants
This is the web site for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Here, Fire Departments can obtain information regarding grants and track the status of their application.

The application period for the 2010 Assistance to Firefighters (AFG) program has closed. The deadline was Friday, May 28.

Illinois Finance Authority - Fire Truck Revolving Loan Fund
The Fire Truck Revolving Loan Fund and the Ambulance Revolving Loan Fund are jointly administered by the Office of the State Fire Marshal for the State of Illinois and the Illinois Finance Authority.

Small Business Administration
The Small Business Administration has a number of resources and can provide guidance to small businesses seeking assistance. Included in the resources from the SBA is information regarding Recovery Act funding set aside to reduce fees for borrowers, expand loan guarantees and ensure quicker loan processing.

The U.S. Department of Education lists grant opportunities available for schools and educators.
