Louisiana Values

I remain committed to protecting our shared Louisiana values and respect for God, country and family.  Our founding fathers built a new nation upon these principals, protecting religious freedom in the First Amendment of our Constitution, and I will continue to defend them in Congress.

As a heart surgeon, I dedicated myself to preserving life, and I oppose abortion.  I’m a consistent supporter of several pro-life bills pending in Congress.  I’ll also continue to fight efforts to direct federal tax dollars towards abortion or biomedical research that creates human life for the purpose of destruction.

I believe marriage is the most fundamental institution of our society, and it should not be redefined by activist judges.  I believe this issue should remain in the hands of Louisiana voters who overwhelmingly supported a state amendment declaring: “Marriage in the state of Louisiana shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman.”

I am always eager to hear from my constituents.  If you would like to speak with my staff about legislation involving social issues, please contact my Washington, D.C. office at 202-225-2031
