Boustany Tells Boehner to Hold the Line for Conservatives

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after he sent a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner earlier today regarding recent comments made in an interview with journalist Diane Sawyer:

“In South Louisiana, and across the rest of the country, hard-working American families continue to struggle to make ends meet. This letter urges Speaker Boehner to stand up for these families against the policies of this Administration.

“Higher taxes not only kill jobs, they take hard-earned money out of the pockets of American families at a time they need it most. It is urgent this problem be dealt with immediately.

“Obamacare continues to be a dangerous law. The majority of my constituents in South Louisiana want to repeal and replace Obamacare with a patient-centered solution that actually lowers costs. I will fight to represent their viewpoints on Capitol Hill and work to not only repeal but replace Obamacare.

“Border security continues to be a top priority for Americans. Conservatives should not confuse comprehensive immigration reform with amnesty. Americans want our nation’s borders protected and Congress should seek to do just that.

“Democrat Harry Reid and his do-nothing majority in the Senate refuse to make any proposals or move forward with the House Republican plan. This is unacceptable. House Leadership must stand strong and not be willing to compromise in lieu Senator Reid’s inaction.”
