“The passage of PNTR, including the Magnitsky Act, protects American companies from unfair trade practices it opens up market opportunities in Russia. Inclusion of the human rights provisions named for the late Sergei Magnitsky assures that the United State will continue to be a world leader in respecting human rights and punishing violators of those rights.”Senator Ben Cardin shared a link.

"The GSA issued a Request for Interest for the new location of the FBI headquarters, which lays out certain requirements for the project and will help identify sites available in our region. With a significant portion of the federal workfo...rce living in Maryland and ample land available near Metro stations, it’s clear Prince George’s County is the right choice for the new headquarters. The project would bring thousands of jobs to the County, boost our local economy, and generate additional revenues for our community. As the process continues to move forward, we will be working closely together to advocate for bringing this project, and the new economic opportunities that will accompany it, to Prince George’s County.”See More- Ben- Had the pleasure of meeting Jack Andraka. Ben- Ratifying the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities represents an unparalleled opportunity to extend that leadership internationally by protecting the rights of all people with disabilities, and protecting our own citiz...ens when they are on foreign soil. The CRPD embodies many of the same ideals the Americans with Disabilities Act promotes: it empowers people with disabilities to be able to make their own choices, to claim personal responsibility for their own lives, and to be independent. I would tell my colleagues who are concerned about ratifying the treaty that when we considered the CRPD in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, we added language that explicitly reiterates that the treaty would not require changes to existing U.S. law. This isn’t a race to the bottom that ends up hurting Americans; this is a challenge to other countries to treat people with disabilities the way we do here. Our nation was founded on the principles that we are all created equal and each of us has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – regardless of our abilities. Ratifying the CRPD is a strong act of diplomacy and symbol of America’s continued commitment to equal justice for all.See More- Small business Saturday is a great chance to support your friends, neighbors, and local economy by shopping at local small businesses.
