Rokita: Weak Economy is Result of Oversized Government, Complex Tax Code

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita today issued the following statement on the latest unemployment data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“Until we address our spending and debt crisis and get government out of the way, we’ll continue to see high unemployment and weak economic growth. These are the real-life consequences of an oversized federal government, a complex tax code and an ever-growing maze of regulations.

“The answer to our fiscal crisis is not to raise taxes on job creators, but to overhaul our tax code and unleash the private sector once again. That’s the only sure way to put Americans back to work and ensure that the children of tomorrow inherit a strong economy,” said Rokita.
