Bills that have passed the House by more than 400 votes: If the President is looking for more bipartisan action, Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), John Thune (R-SD), Scott Brown (R-MA), and Pat Toomey (R-PA) have bipartisan capital formation bills, that the president has said, in the past, he supports. All four of these bills have been approved by the House with more than 400 votes and are being held up by the Democrat-controlled Senate. -

I joined Sens. John Thune (R-SD), Scott Brown (R-MA), and Pat Toomey (R-PA) to discuss our bipartisan capital formation bills, which have been stalled by the Democratic led Senate. My bill, S. 556, would help community banks by increasing the number of shareholders permitted to invest from 500 to 2,000. The companion to my legislation, H.R. 1965, passed overwhelmingly in the House by a vote of 420-2. -

Now is Not the Time to Raise Taxes
In August of 2009, President Barack Obama explained to NBC's Chuck Todd that, "you don't raise taxes in a recession." President Obama, at the time, seemed to acknowledge the basic economic reality that increased taxes are a burden on an economy, and that adding this burden to a struggling economy is a bad idea.
