Schools Groundbreaking: Rep. Senator Murray, Congressman Dicks Introduce Major Legislation to Protect Olympic Peninsula's Natural Treasures
6/21/2012 – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) and Congressman Norm Dicks (D, WA-06) introduced the Wild Olympics Wilderness & Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 2012 in the Senate and House of Representatives. This legislation would protect several key forest areas and rivers while preserving local jobs and access to outdoor recreation opportunities.

2012 Congressional Art Competition Open to Entries from High School Students
3/5/2012 – Congressman Dicks is pleased to announce his office’s participation in the Congressional Art Competition, “An Artistic Discovery,” which allows high school students from across the United States to showcase their artistic ability. Each year Members of Congress hold contests within their districts to choose winning pieces of art by high school students. The winning student from each district is invited to Washington, DC for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and will have his or her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Entries must be received by 4:30 PM, Friday, April 20th, 2012.

U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks will not seek Re-Election
3/2/2012 – I am announcing today my intention to complete my service in the House of Representatives at the end of the current session but not to be a candidate for re-election to the 113th Congress.  After 18 terms representing the people of the 6th Congressional District of Washington, preceded by eight years on the Staff of Senator Warren G. Magnuson, Suzie and I have made the decision to change gears and enjoy life at a different pace.

Budget Contains $581 Million for Construction at State Defense Bases
2/13/2012 – The budget submitted to Congress by the Obama Administration today contains a total of $580,933,000 for military construction projects at Washington State military facilities, according to U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks. 

Quileute Bill Approved in House of Representatives
2/6/2012 – The House of Representatives today approved legislation sponsored by Congressman Norm Dicks that enables the relocation of a school and several other Quileute Tribal Reservation facilities on the Washington coast to higher ground, away from the danger of a Pacific tsunami.

State Priorities Included in Appropriations Bill
12/16/2011 – The appropriations bill that provides money for two-thirds of the federal government’s agencies, approved today by Congress, includes various funds for Washington State priorities, including Puget Sound cleanup funding, continued support for Boeing military programs and for replacement of schools at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks said. 

Federal Grant to Help Alleviate I-5 Traffic Congestion at JBLM
12/12/2011 – In an effort to help Washington State alleviate what has become a major source of congestion along Interstate 5 in Tacoma, the U.S. Department of Transportation is awarding a $15 million grant to assist the state’s traffic management plan for the corridor near Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Congressman Norm Dicks has learned.
