Schools Groundbreaking: Rep. 2012 Congressional Art Competition Open to Entries from High School Students
3/5/2012 – Congressman Dicks is pleased to announce his office’s participation in the Congressional Art Competition, “An Artistic Discovery,” which allows high school students from across the United States to showcase their artistic ability. Each year Members of Congress hold contests within their districts to choose winning pieces of art by high school students. The winning student from each district is invited to Washington, DC for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and will have his or her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Entries must be received by 4:30 PM, Friday, April 20th, 2012.

U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks will not seek Re-Election
3/2/2012 – I am announcing today my intention to complete my service in the House of Representatives at the end of the current session but not to be a candidate for re-election to the 113th Congress.  After 18 terms representing the people of the 6th Congressional District of Washington, preceded by eight years on the Staff of Senator Warren G. Magnuson, Suzie and I have made the decision to change gears and enjoy life at a different pace.

Budget Contains $581 Million for Construction at State Defense Bases

Quileute Bill Approved in House of Representatives

Federal Grant to Help Alleviate I-5 Traffic Congestion at JBLM
12/12/2011 – In an effort to help Washington State alleviate what has become a major source of congestion along Interstate 5 in Tacoma, the U.S. Department of Transportation is awarding a $15 million grant to assist the state’s traffic management plan for the corridor near Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Congressman Norm Dicks has learned.
