Sen. Cantwell and Rep. Dicks to Host Military Academy Information Sessions
Senator Maria Cantwell and Congressman Norm Dicks are pleased to announce upcoming information sessions about how to receive a nomination to attend one of the military academies. Three sessions will be held in the Sixth District, please see the letter below for additional details.
Each year we are privileged to nominate young men and women from Washington State to attend one of the military academies. It is an honor for us to nominate qualified students who are interested in serving our great nation and receiving a highly regarded education.
Staff from our offices will host two academy information sessions this Fall:
- September 27th, 2012, 5:00PM-Norm Dicks Government Center,
City Council Chambers, 345 Sixth Street, Bremerton
- October 2nd, 2012, 5:00PM- University of Washington –Tacoma,
Carwein Auditorium, 1900 Commerce Street, Tacoma
- October 3rd, 2012, 4:30PM-Grays Harbor College, Manspeaker Instructional Building Room 2250,
1620 Edward P. Smith Drive, Aberdeen
This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the criteria and process for receiving a Congressional nomination. In addition, representatives from the military academies will explain what is expected from potential candidates and what a student will experience while attending the academy. Students, parents, and school officials are welcome to attend.
Attached please find a flyer (click here) with information regarding these academy information sessions. Please supply copies of this flyer directly to your students.
Students can apply for a nomination from each of the state’s two Senators, and from the Member of Congress that represents their home address. Please advise students to check their congressional district by visiting http://www.house.gov and entering their zip codes.
