I apply my four-way test to every piece of legislation that comes before the House for a vote: 1) Is it Right/Moral? 2) Is it Constitutional? 3) Is it Necessary? 4) Is it Affordable?

    • (Please read this post from a distant relative Holly Tucker McCullough about her nephew. If you can, please express this outrage to your congress person, the White House or anyone else you can think of. We must care for our troops as they are willing to die for us). A lot of you know from my posts, about my nephew David Chamberlin. He was in Afghanistan and was shot a number of times resulting in serious damage to his hip and leg and he almost died more than once. He is recovering but has a long way to go. He received a bill from the U.S. Army for the uniform he was wearing when he was shot.. WHAT!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? We all know the government is way out of control.. But this shocks me. Also he has not been able to get home to his family because he could not fly. So they have not seen him since he was shot. He is now able to travel and wants to see his family. His plane ticket... Are you ready?? was $3,000.00 dollars.. Is there no military discount for wounded soldiers to fly? It saddens me that our Military is not valued more.. Remember also the Vietnam soldiers that returned from war with no appreciation shown for their sacrifice!!! I know this is a personal issue because David is family, but I assure you he is not alone. I will be contacting my congressman and sending an e-mail to the White House. I for one would be PROUD to pay for his uniform.. Whatever it cost.. God Bless our troops..

    • Love your neighbor. Where did the Broun ethos develop ? Under a whip? I see 50 shades of gray without reading the book. You call for anarchy.... let's pull away from the cave. (def)Anarchism is generally defined as a political philosophy which holds the state to be undesirable, unnecessary, or harmful,[1][2][3] or, alternatively, as opposing authority or hierarchical organization in the conduct of human relations.

    • Listening to Mr. Broun on CNBC this afternoon. A reincarntion of Lester Maddox? A total hypocrite. Just another mind from the 19th century who takes the American people for fools. I submit that The Congressman is part of the problem.

    • As a supporter of liberty, less taxes and smaller government, thank you for standing with Rand Paul yesterday. As a native Atlantian I am proud to say that you are a Representative from Georgia. Fight the good fight and lead Georgia to the path of liberty and freedom. If you lead us we will follow. Have a very Merry Christmans and God bless!

  2. "The message from Main Street, and nearly every credible study, is clear: higher tax rates mean fewer jobs." Thanks to Ways and Means Committee and NFIB for bringing this study to light. I agree - we don’t need to be raising taxes on anybody. We need to let business grow so they can raise taxpayers by creating good paying, lasting jobs.
  3. The Democrats’ math just doesn’t add up; there is no way to tax our way out of this mess. Even if they attempt to tax every millionaire and billionaire in America at 100% of their earnings, it still won’t even begin to put a dent in the de...
ficit our federal government is currently running. The only way to begin restoring limited government is to attack the crux of our problem and drastically scale back this nation’s spending. Unfortunately, this impasse is exactly what the President wants – for the fiscal cliff debate to focus on demonizing the nation’s job creators instead of on how his tax-and-spend policies kill jobs and hurt small businesses.

  4. As an original cosponsor of Congressman Frank Wolf's resolution to create a House select committee to investigate the terrorist attack in Benghazi, I agree that we need a coordinated approach to really get to the bottom of what happened in ...
the attack on our embassy, and how we can improve our diplomatic security. I urge Speaker Boehner to establish the committee as soon as possible so that we can finally give the American people – and the families of the victims – some answers.

  5. "...They're presenting laughable suggestions from the Secretary of the Treasury. He ought to be embarrassed to be asked to go up here and do something like that. It's a serious blow to his credibility." The Obama Administration needs to stop playing games and come to the table with a serious proposal. This is an insult to Congress, and to the American people.
  6. Thanks to The Heritage Foundation for a great explanation of why raising tax rates is the wrong solution to our fiscal crisis. This would damage our economy, and it doesn't address the root of the problem – the explosive growth in federal spending.
  7. I applaud Nathan Deal's decision to not set up the state exchange for Obamacare in Georgia. If the federal government is going to demand the exchanges follow their one-size-fits-all methodology and prevent Georgia from best serving its population, it shouldn't expect Georgia's tax dollars to pay for them.
  8. On Monday, November 19th, I invite you to join me at the Clayton Municipal Complex in Rabun County. We will meet at 6:00 p.m. in the courtroom to discuss the issues that matter to you most. I hope you'll make plans to attend! See the link below for more info.
  9. The Labor Department reported Thursday that 439,000 people filed for first-time unemployment benefits last week, the highest number since April 2011. While the tragic effects of Hurricane Sandy influenced these numbers, they still indicate that our economy is continuing along a stagnant path. America can’t afford to accept the anemic growth brought along by big government policies as the new normal.
