  • Health Care

Our current health care system, with a reliance on third party, or employer provided, insurance is a relic of the 1940’s. As time marches on we are finding that individual patients, which should be the primary concern in any health care system, are being relegated to the backseat in the decision making process, leaving it up to their physicians to try to obtain payment from insurance providers, with varying degrees of success.

  • Homeland Security

As a Marine and former Naval medical officer, I understand that the federal government’s first obligation is to the safety and security of our nation and the brave men and women who defend it. I am deeply committed to doing everything within my power to safeguard the people of the United States from those wishing us harm. As a member of the Homeland Security Committee, you may be sure that I will continue to fight to defend the Constitution as our Founding Fathers intended it.

  • Second Amendment Rights

I am an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and I strongly support the Constitution’s Second Amendment right to bear arms and will defend the rights of law abiding citizens to purchase, use, and keep firearms. I vigorously oppose all attempts to restrict the Second Amendment. I believe that any law – whether at the local, state, or federal level – which restricts or infringes upon law abiding citizens’ ability to own a firearm is unconstitutional and should be repealed.

  • Tax Reform

For too long the American people have been asked to comply with an incomprehensible, loophole riddled, lobbyist friendly income tax code that makes it far too easy for innocent taxpayers to find themselves left to the mercy of a punitive Internal Revenue Service.

  • Water Management

As you know, Lakes Hartwell, Thurmond, and Russell are at record low water levels, and many of our communities face water shortages that could challenge their ability to meet water supply needs in the near and distant future.
