House Democrats Increase Taxes on Job Creators While Unemployment Rate Continues to Grow
Posted on December 03, 2010

Yesterday, in a last stand effort, Speaker Nancy Pelosi forced a vote in the House that would only extend tax cuts for the middle class while allowing the Democrat tax increase on small businesses and individuals making over $250,000. The Obama Administration has been working with Republicans to find a solution and ensure no individual or business is hit with a tax increase during an economic recession.  Not only did Speaker Pelosi’s hasty vote undermine these bipartisan talks,  she ignored the will of the American people, her own party, economists and small businesses, demonstrating, once again, her ignorance, arrogance, and unwillingness to truly listen to the American people.

Democratic Representative Jason Altmire voted against bringing up the bill and said, “This isn’t a time to talk about raising taxes.” It was a sentiment that fell on the deaf ears of the outgoing Speaker.

While the bill must still go through the Senate, this political gamesmanship from Speaker Pelosi and other House Democrats comes at a time when Americans cannot afford to have their taxes increase. Today, the Labor Department announced that unemployment rose to 9.8 percent, which is the highest unemployment has been since April. With this vote, Democrats are, once again, demonstrating their tendency to ignore the voters, as well as many in their own party, and increase the taxes on an already maligned private sector.

The move to bring the incomplete tax bill to to the House floor for a vote was nothing more than political ploy designed to misrepresent the intentions of Republicans, who are united in extending tax cuts for all Americans and small businesses.   While Republicans lost the vote, the American people are the real victims.

We will not stand for these games at a time when Americans have clearly voiced their displeasure with the way the Democrats have run this country. Not intimidated by this move from the outgoing majority, Republicans remained steadfast in our fight to oppose the tax increase on all Americans and small businesses. We will not stop fighting to protect America’s job creators at the time when we need them the most.

While unemployment is a hard thing right now, and while I am generally fairly liberal, even I am upset over how long the UE is lasting. No longer are they collecting on their insurance but on the taxes that folks have paid. As a self employed person, I have no safety net like this insurance or the extensions. I am almost resentful of those who won't even work 20 hours a week to make a few pennies in fear they may not have UE. I have several businesses I run and I even teach others to start their own ecommerce stores. Right now, its tight, but I work 12-14 hours a day, and for only a few pennies. I teach people through a site called, www.MyNIghtSchool.Com, and it is only one of my websites. It doesn't earn a lot, but people learn alot. This is one democrat that is against MORE UM.

The first thing that really needed and needs to be done is to take the Banks out of trying to do what us in real estate studied to do.The banks have taken over so many houses because of what they did to real estate in the first place. I have always thought the Republicans knew not to let the housing market crash. That is where a lot of the jobs were lost. I am out here trying to help some of the sub contractors get jobs to keep them from starving. Until the housing market comes back it will still be a bad situation in most of the cities. A lot of the businesses depended on the housing market to keep them alive. Just think of a Roofer, Building Contractor (residential and Commercial), Developer, Supplier, Sub-Contractor, Secretaries, Accountants, Dining places, Machanics, Cleaners, Realtors, and many others who depend on the housing market. Banks have no business in selling houses they gave a bad loan to. They did not take the classes we have to take on ethics or knowledge of real estate laws etc. Banks, Mortgage Companies, and bad ethics put the housing market where it is today. But, bailing the banks and mortgage companies that gave the bad loans should not be the ones selling them. It looks like we were all set up for a fall so the banks could take over the Real Estate Market. My purse is closed to people seeking office until I see that someone is going to really forget their purse and get us out of this mess. There are hardly anyone looking for real estate in our area because people can not sell their home to buy another one, and others can not get loans etc. Janice D. Shattuck

Your Republican multi-millionaire Pundits (Boortz, Limbaugh etc...) have done a masterful job of getting the republican middle class to fight their tax battle. My question is if the top 1% don't pick up the slack who do you think will? Of course the middle class. The Rich have had these tax cuts for 8 years and unemployment is at all time high so the old mantra about them being "job creators" is not working. You are willing to let middle class tax cuts expire while protecting the 1%. I realize that most of you in Congress are in the 1% but you are there to represent the people, not yourselves. We're so tired of all the partisan political fighting in Congress and believe you are their to compromise not stonewall. Do what's best for the country and not the "party".

Good post I really like this post in very informative. Real estate is “Property consisting of land and the buildings on it, along with its natural resources such as crops, minerals, or water; immovable property of this nature; an interest vested in this also an item of real property.

first im sorry my phone battery died while waiting for your live townhall meetting.. first i believe ALL our countrys problems stem from one thing the lack of integrity of our representitives... i pray that you are in the one percent that statement doesnt apply too... my grandfather born in 1889 always told me two things about politicians... first that there wasnt a dimes worth of difference between the bunch of them and.... second that you always knew a polititian was lying .... when his lips were moving .. hahaa however ... after following politics since the carter administration .. it has proved to be one of the most true statements.. ive EVER heard.... i was a radioman aboard two SSBN SUBMARINES.. and classified material custodian as well... also attached to comsubgru 2 in the admirals bldg.. reading and controling every piece of classified material in the commands .. i am well aware that information in truth is hardly ever what the population hears.. now for my question .. this is a time when our president lies to tha american people with just about every sentence that comes from his mouth with a grin and smerk .. and a media that shelters him and other polititians from the truth ... i want to know would you support and / or propose a .... TRUTH IN POLITICS..ADMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION... in todays world a simple citizen is arrested and charged with a crime for lying to govt// but yet polititians lie to get elected...and to get legislation passed that benefits themselves and there cronies.... at the expense of the american people... i want someone with enough integrity to stand and fight for the whole of the american way of life and expose the corruption that has engulfed our country .. never bowing to the pressures that will sure to follow.. IF there was a prison time charge for a politian and his staff who lies to get elected ..or to pass legislation ...... in essence .. defrauding the public this would stop most of the garbage that goes on in politics today ... i have posed this question to several .. seeking my vote .. all agree ... to my face.. none EVER ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM .. they just fall into the routine of washington securing there own place of power rather than trying to rock the establishment...and truly restoring the power of the constitution to its rightful place.... with the people of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA... i pray you will be different... as far as my vote i will pull a republican lever for the rest of my life .. after this bunch in power now have shown they are hell bent to destroy our economy and way of life.. not by accident but by design.. help save our country.. hold the line.. dont negociate our liberties away one straw at a time.. there plan is designed to destroy us over centuries not yrs... and lastly i hope you read this not some aid ..... who files it in the garbage... thankyou for the few minutes of your time .. Why do you want to repeal Obama care when you get free health care paid by the taxpapers???? Why dont you repeal your health care benefits and buy your own. As for Ronald Reagan he had the biggest tax increase in peace time history and he also, like Bush did a stimulus package. so he is a hero and President Obama isnot and he did not increase our taxes as Reagan did. Ithink the Republican have made a jointed effort to make sure the economy doesnot do well so that this President would not be elected. Its a shame. Romney took credit for the GM bail out . REally He was president. Now he states that the economy got better inspite of Obama. IT GOT BETTER BECAUSE OF OBAMA. SAD STATE OF REPBULICAN HOGWASH...

Actually the real obstructionist are the Republican party as evidence by Senator Snow who will not run due to the gridlock in Washington especially among the House Members. Boehner with his tea party people cant seem to get anything done. Its is their way or no way. That is not a way to run a country. The minute President Obama became President the Republican party decided to sabotage his presidency as evidence by MCConnell who stated his mission was to make sure he would not get reelected. Sad how his mission was not to help this country but to defeat one man. And Daniel This administration is not out to destroy America as you claim. Remember 9/11 occured during a Republican presidency and it was Bush who tanked this country How easy we forget and if you the 1% then I understand your comment. But if youre part of the99percent tile then you Sir are voting the wrong way. You are giving the 1% orthe job creators as they say all the power and removing rights and benefits from your self.

I will sign your Key Stone petition, because it will create jobs here in the USA. I do not like that you pretend the oil will be used here in the USA. All of you minipulators in D.C. need to quit blowing crap our way as if we don't have access to the internet. Just be honest; a word that is unfamiliar in Washington, D.C. I as a voting citizen will choose to vote out most incumbents if opposed by another Conservative; never a Democrat because of the Facist/Marxist policy they are promoting. "I" am not alone in this opinion. Quit lying and tell us the TRUTH.

What do you think will happen if the threats of riots if Obama is not relected come true? Will the N.G. step in and under who's side?
