Chairman Dreier Statement on Retirement of
House Parliamentarian John Sullivan

WASHINGTON, DC – Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier (R-CA) issued the following
statement today after the announcement that John Sullivan, Parliamentarian of the U.S. House of Representatives, will retire next month and will be succeeded by Deputy House Parliamentarian
Tom Wickham:

“John Sullivan has served the House with professionalism and distinction for a quarter century. He has also shared his expertise and wisdom with parliamentarians in emerging democracies around the globe through the House Democracy Partnership. I have been privileged to work closely with John and will miss his invaluable counsel when he departs next month. I have also worked extensively with Tom Wickham, the next House parliamentarian. He is an excellent choice to replace John. He will bring the same sense of fairness, decorum, and professionalism to this critical position.”
