Before applying, please read the following information to ensure you will be able to meet all the necessary internship requirements. If you do qualify, please then follow the listed instructions on how to apply for an internship.

Senator Begich offers internships to Alaskans who at a minimum have graduated high school or received a GED diploma. Applicants are also encouraged to have some work experience or post-secondary education at a college, vocational or graduate school.

Internships are currently available year-round at these office locations:

In Washington, D.C., the hours are 9am-6pm daily, paying $1800 per month before taxes. In the Alaska offices, the hours are 8:30am-5:30pm daily, paying $1000 per month before taxes. All interns are expected to find their own housing in D.C. And Alaska. All applications must be submitted by email.


If the above parameters are acceptable and you are interested in applying for an internship in Washington, D.C., or in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau please send an email to internships@begich.senate.gov. Please indicate in which city you would like to work.

Applications will require the following information:

  1. Completed application.
  2. A cover letter explaining why you are interested in the internship, a bit about yourself, and the days/hours you're available each week.
  3. A 2-3 page writing sample. This can be a school paper or something creative you wrote for this purpose.
