UF WINS COMPETITIVE GRANT FROM THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH

Washington, Jul 14, 2009 - “It is an honor to represent the University of Florida and I join in congratulating the school for winning this competitive grant – the National Institutes of Health’s Clinical and Translational Science Award,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth). “Over the next five years, the University of Florida will receive nearly $26 million to support research in a variety of fields, including aging, biomedical informatics, gene therapy, infectious diseases, and nanotechnology.”

Through this award, the University of Florida joins a national consortium of medical research institutions that will be capped at 60 by 2012. Added Stearns, “The University of Florida is the only school in Florida to receive this award, which underscores the school’s prominence and reputation as a center of medical research.”
