Florida's Sixth Congressional District

The Almanac of American Politics describes the district as a prime growth area in a high-growth state, noting that the area economy once depended on farming and tourism.  Then retirees began settling into the area.

CQ's Politics in America has this to say about the district.  It contains three regions: the Jacksonville area has a large military presence and a busy port; the Gainesville area in the middle includes the University of Florida and the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, and is attracting a growing tech corridor; and the Ocala area with noted horse farms and a growing retiree population.  It also lists the major industries as higher education, defense, health care, and agriculture.
