Dreier Honors Veterans

SAN DIMAS, CA – Congressman David Dreier (R-CA) issued the following statement today in honor of our nation’s veterans and their families:

“The men and women of our Armed Forces serve tirelessly to protect the freedoms we hold dear.  Veterans Day provides all of us with an opportunity to pay tribute to our veterans who sacrificed so much, at home and abroad, through times of peace and conflict, to uphold and maintain the American way of life.

“On Veterans Day, Americans will honor our servicemembers at Veterans Day parades, ceremonies, and other events.  But that doesn’t mean we have to stop there.  From volunteering at local VA hospitals to attending welcome home events for our returning soldiers, all across the country, Americans every day work and volunteer in support of our nation’s veterans.  The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the California Department of Veterans Affairs offer resources for American who wish to show their admiration and thanks to veterans.

“Congress must also do its part by ensuring our veterans and military men and women have access to the healthcare they need and deserve.  That is why I have consistently supported enhanced healthcare benefits for our injured veterans and programs for our returning soldiers to re-enter the workforce and start new businesses.  Recently, I worked with my colleagues to enact the Veterans’ Benefits Act, which provides additional job assistance benefits for homeless veterans, protects overseas Armed Forces personnel from unscrupulous business practices and helps injured veterans better plan for the needs of their families.

“We will always honor our veterans and never forget the sacrifices they have made in service to our country.”
