Dreier Helps Commemorate JPL’s Contribution to Exploration

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) helped the La Cañada Flintridge-based Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and NASA celebrate 400 years of discovery in space this week.  NASA, JPL, the Applied Physics Laboratory and the California Institute of Technology hosted an event to commemorate the introduction of telescope by Galileo Galilei and the discoveries it has generated.  Dreier said JPL and the people who work there represent the continuation of innovation and exploration.

“Four hundred years after the introduction of the simple telescope, the people of JPL continue to innovate, explore and inspire,” Dreier said.  “The beginnings of space exploration have led us to exciting adventures like the Mars Exploration Rover Mission.  Not only does this Mission provide inspiring discoveries, it also provides critical jobs to our region’s economy.  With facilities like JPL, there is no doubt space exploration will continue to enlighten and inspire well into the future.”
