Dreier Votes To Support Services For Veterans

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) voted in favor of four pieces of legislation this week in support of our nation’s veterans. These bills will improve veterans’ benefits as well as expand opportunities for veterans who are interested in going back to school. S. 407, the Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act; H.R. 1172, making scholarship information for veterans and their survivors available online; H.R. 1016, the Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act; and H.R. 1211, the Women Veterans Health Care Improvement Act all passed the House of Representatives this week with overwhelming bipartisan support.

“As the nation prepares to celebrate our Independence Day, it is only fitting that we ensure that the men and women who fought for our freedom receive the benefits and support they deserve,” Dreier said. “The members of our armed forces and their families make incredible sacrifices for our country. We can never fully express our gratitude for their service.”

S. 407 would increase the rates of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability compensation as well as dependency and indemnity compensation. H.R. 1172 requires the VA website to include a list of organizations that provide scholarships to veterans and their survivors. This will give veterans and their survivors the ability to find scholarship opportunities in one comprehensive database. H.R. 1016 implements a predictable funding source for the Veterans Health Administration. H.R. 1211 expands healthcare services for women veterans and studies the unique health challenges they face.
