Dreier Welcomes Job Seekers, Employers to "Road to Employment Job Fair"

SAN DIMAS, CA – Congressman David Dreier (R-CA) joined with the San Bernardino Workforce Investment Board to host the annual “Road to Employment Job Fair” today. More than seventy potential employers met with more than 1,500 job seekers who were looking for new employment opportunities in the Inland Empire.

“There is little doubt that the Inland Empire has struggled during these difficult economic times,” Dreier said. “However, this region is also fortunate to have a well-educated workforce, a world-class system of colleges, universities and vocational schools, a wide diversity of businesses and an expansive infrastructure system that connects us to the rest of the country and world. Today’s Job Fair is a terrific example of the resilience of the Inland Empire and the people who live and work here.”

Representatives from the healthcare, hospitality, and energy fields, among others, were represented at the Job Fair today. Local education and law enforcement entities were also in attendance. In addition to meeting with potential employers, Job Fair attendees also had the opportunity to participate in workshops on interviewing and online research skills.

Dreier said his primary focus remains improving the economy and environment for job creation, particularly in Southern California. “The unemployment rate in our area remains unacceptably high,” Dreier said. “We need to foster real, sustainable economic growth and job creation in order to bring it down in a significant way. That will require getting our debt under control and reducing federal spending and regulation so that the private sector can finally begin to hire again. Great challenges remain, but after an event like today, I am more than optimistic that we will be able to meet and best them.”
