Deadline for Youth Volunteer Award Approaching

SAN DIMAS, CA – Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) announced today that the deadline for his annual Youth Volunteer Award is rapidly approaching. The award is open to all high school students residing between the ages of 14 and 18 residing in Congressman Dreier’s district. Award winners will be honored at a ceremony later this spring. The deadline for complete applications is 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009.

Over the last several years, Congressman Dreier has sponsored the Youth Volunteer Awards to honor the contributions young people have made through volunteer work. Dreier stated, “Each year, I have the privilege of honoring these young volunteers. It is always humbling to see the level of responsibility and commitment they give to our community. Far too often, teenagers are not recognized for the good they have done. My goal is to make sure they receive the recognition they have earned and deserve.”

Applications are available here or they can be picked up at Congressman Dreier’s district office at 510 East Foothill Boulevard, Suite 201, San Dimas, CA. Those interested in applying must: complete an application documenting their volunteer service; write a 250-500 word essay describing the benefits of his/her service to the community; submit one letter of reference; and, have an informal interview with the Award Council. Completed applications must be submitted to Congressman Dreier’s district office, which can be reached by calling 909-575-6226 or 888-906-2626. The deadline for complete applications is 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009.
