Dreier Announces Youth Volunteer Award Applications Now Available

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) has announced that applications for the annual Youth Volunteer Award are now available.  Congressman Dreier has held this event for several years in an effort to recognize the contributions young people have made to their communities through volunteer work.  The award is open to all high school students, aged 14-18 residing in the 26th Congressional District.

“I look forward to honoring these young volunteers every year,” Dreier said.  “It is always exciting and inspiring to see the level of responsibility and commitment they give to our community.  Far too often, teenagers are not recognized for the good they do.  My goal is to make sure they receive the recognition they deserve for their efforts.”

Applications for the Youth Volunteer Award are available here, or at his district office located at 510 East Foothill Boulevard, Suite 210, San Dimas.  The office can be reached at 909-575-6226 or 888-906-2626.  Those interested in applying must complete an application documenting their volunteer service, write a 250-500 word essay describing the benefits of their service to the community, and submit one letter of reference.  Following the submission of their application, students will be asked to sit for an informal interview with the Youth Volunteer Award Council.  The deadline for completed applications is 5 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010

The 26th District includes the cities of Arcadia, Bradbury, Charter Oak, Claremont, Glendora, La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta, La Verne, Monrovia, Montclair, Montrose, Rancho Cucamonga, San Antonio Heights, San Dimas, San Marino, Sierra Madre, Upland, Walnut, Wrightwood, and portions of Altadena, Pasadena, and San Gabriel.
