Van Hollen Applauds UN Determination on Alan Gross, Calls for Immediate Release

Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement on the notification that the United Nations (UN) Working Group on Arbitrary Detention has determined that the Government of Cuba is holding Alan Gross in violation of international law:
“I welcome today’s determination by the United Nations’ independent Working Group on Arbitrary Detention that the Government of Cuba is detaining Alan Gross in violation of international law. In accordance with that judgment, and in the spirit of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights to which it is a signatory, I call on the Cuban Government to release him immediately. We will not rest until justice is done and Alan Gross is free.”
