Questions About Fuel Assistance?

If you think you might have difficulties heating your home this winter, you may qualify for winter fuel assistance through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).  Over 200,000 families throughout Massachusetts rely on fuel assistance to help heat their homes each winter.  LIHEAP provides assistance to eligible households in paying their heating bills.  The Commonwealth of Massachusetts recently received $141 million in federal fuel assistance funds for 2013 and applications are currently being accepted.  Below is some information about the LIHEAP program and how to apply.  If you have any questions or need assistance, please call the Boston office at 617-428-2000 or the Brockton office at 508-586-5555.

ABOUT LIHEAP

The program is administered through state-approved community organizations.  Applications for LIHEAP funding for 2013 are currently being accepted until April 30th of 2013.  Eligibility is determined by your household income.  Applicants must have a household income at or below 60% of the estimated state median income in order to be eligible for fuel assistance.

If this is your first time applying for the LIHEAP funding, you must apply in person at a fuel assistance agency in your area.  You can call your local agency to schedule an appointment.

If you received LIHEAP assistance last year, your application will be sent to you in the mail.
