Rep. McKinley to Continue Work on Powerful Energy and Commerce Committee

Washington, D.C.—In the 113th Congress that will begin in January, Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-WV) will continue to serve on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and has been tapped to expand his involvement. In addition to his past experience on two other subcommittees of Energy and Commerce, McKinley will now also serve on the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy. This subcommittee focuses on issues such as chemical reform, coal ash regulation, natural gas drilling, and industrial plant security, among others.

“These issues are crucial to the economic growth of our district,” said Rep. McKinley. It’s an honor to be named to this subcommittee so that we can continue to grow jobs and make our communities stronger and more viable for the future.”

Rep. McKinley will also maintain his position as a member on the Energy and Power and Commerce Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittees after he was reappointed by Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI).

The Energy and Commerce Committee handles a variety of issues including energy, manufacturing, healthcare, Internet and telecommunications. Between 70 and 80 percent of all laws enacted by Congress have come through the committee and it is the oldest standing legislative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Over the next two years I look forward to continuing our work on Energy and Commerce to create jobs, make America energy independent and reform the health care system,” McKinley added.
