Veterans History Project

I am honored to be a participant in the Library of Congress' Veterans History Project.  This project "collects, preserves, and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war."

If you are a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, or the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq and would be willing to share your story (or donate original documents or artifacts to the Library of Congress) my office can help. I’m also encouraging schools, libraries, community services organizations, and veterans' groups to join this outreach effort. If you are affiliated with an organization that works with veterans, my staff and I can help you help veterans share their stories. We can connect veterans with local schools, libraries or other organizations to help ensure that children and all other Americans hear their experiences and fully appreciate the sacrifices made in war.

I hope war veterans participate in this valuable effort, either through my office or on their own, to preserve the first-hand accounts of those who have fought for our nation and can teach future generations so much.
