U.S. CONGRESSMAN BILL JOHNSON Proudly Representing Eastern and Southeastern Ohio

2012 Congressional Art Competition

I am proud to announce the 2012 Congressional Art Competition, “An Artistic Discovery.”  Initiated in 1982 by the House of Representatives, the Congressional Art Competition has become an annual event that allows students from all over the country to showcase their artistic abilities. All high school students residing in the 6th Congressional District are eligible to enter through my office. This is a great opportunity for students to represent their school to both our local region as well a national audience, and I encourage teachers and principals to bring this competition to the attention of their students.

The overall contest winner will have his/her artwork displayed for one year inside the United States Capitol. In addition, the artwork of four runners-up will be displayed in our Washington, D.C. or Marietta, Salem, or Ironton district offices.

Artwork entered in the contest may be up to 28 inches by 28 inches (including the frame) and may be up to 4 inches in depth.

The artwork may be:

  • Paintings - including oil, acrylics, and watercolor
  • Drawings - including pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, and markers
  • Collages
  • Prints - including lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints
  • Mixed Media
  • Computer Generated Art
  • Photography

All entries must be original in concept, design and execution.

Full guidelines can be seen here.

All entries must be accompanied by a privacy release form.
