Committee Assignments

Congressman David Schweikert is a member of the following committee and subcommittees:

U.S. Committee on Financial Services

- Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises
- Member of the Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology

As a member and Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises, David works to address the important issue of how to deal with the future of the government sponsored enterprises (GSEs) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which were taken into government conservatorship in 2008.

Fannie and Freddie play a significant role in our domestic housing finance system and reforming both, with an eye toward reviving our mortgage industry, is a major priority for the Financial Services Committee. In addition, the Subcomittee oversees Federal regulators like the Securities and Exchange Commision, credit rating agencies, and markets for financial products such as derivatives, municipal bonds, and corporate securities.

As a member of the Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology, David plays an ongoing role in examining our domestic monetary policy, including the Federal Reserve.

David’s other top priorities on the Financial Services Committee are finding pro-market solutions to the foreclosure problem and identifying policies that will help encourage job growth and economic expansion.

Toward that end, David sponsored two bills (H.R. 1070 and H.R. 2167) that were included in the 'JOBS' Act and signed into law by President Obama on April 5, 2012.
