Biography

Congressman Paul Tonko represents New York’s 21st Congressional District , including the communities of Albany, Schenectady, Troy and Amsterdam. He represents all of Albany, Schenectady, Montgomery and Schoharie Counties and parts of Rensselaer, Saratoga and Fulton Counties.

He is serving his second term, after first being sworn into Congress in 2009.

Paul is the Ranking Member on the Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee on the Science, Space and Technology Committee, which oversees all non-military federal research investment. He is also a member of the Energy and Environment Subcommittee.

He is also a member of the Natural Resources Committee, where he serves on the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee.

Paul served on the Education and Workforce Committee from 2009 to 2010, but stepped down due to a change in the ratio of committee seats. He will maintain his seniority on the committee and rejoin it when seats become available.
