Local Action to Promote Job Growth in the 10th District of Illinois

As a small business owner I know that good ideas don't come from Washington- they come from hardworking people and small businesses across the country. That is why I have traveled the 10th District to listen to families, small businesses, job creators and more so that I can take their ideas back to Washington.  When we come together and find common ground, we can get things done and move our economy forward.

Below is a snapshot of events I have held here in the 10th District to promote job creation:

• Hosted a jobs fair at Harper College in Palatine.
• Hosted a jobs fair at Lake Forest Graduate School in Lake Forest.
• Hosted a jobs fair at the Waukegan Ramada with Rep. Rita Mayfield.
• Hosted a conference bringing together educators and manufacturers to talk about preparing people for the 21st century workforce.
• Held meetings regarding Waukegan Harbor and the importance of keeping it open for the local economy.
• Participated in North-East Lake County Jobs Focus group with political, business, and agency leaders.
• Supported municipal and county economic development agencies such as Lake County Partners in North Chicago.
• Held numerous roundtables with small business owners to discuss ways to spur the economy and get people back to work.
• Formed an Education Advisory Board to address how to reform education for readiness for 21st Century Jobs.
• Formed a 10th District Jobs Task Force.
• Promoted the College of Lake County's continuing education program to help job seekers prepare for local high demand careers.
• Keynoted seminar on the capacity of High Performance Computing to improve middle market manufacturing.
