Congressman John Culberson (TX-07) voted in support of the House Republican budget that will drastically cut federal spending and scale back the size of the government, but also protect funding for our military and reform critical health and retirement programs for our seniors.
“The most serious threat to our nation’s defense is our debt,” said Rep. Culberson. “The Republican budget is the only budget plan that has been offered that makes an earnest effort to cut year-to-year spending, safeguard our military defenses, and rescue Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid from bankruptcy. The House unanimously rejected the president’s budget 414-0. Over the last four years we have seen more spending in the entire history of our country and every failed attempt at a so-called recovery has cost the taxpayers even more.
“The Republican budget focuses on pro-growth tax reforms and cleans up loopholes in the tax code that hinder economic growth. Additionally, it will lower the current astronomically high corporate income tax to level the playing field for American businesses to re-invest here at home. The bill will privatize sectors of the government. Taxpayers will no longer be on the hook for the trillion dollar gamble for housing giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
“Regardless of the Supreme Court decision on the constitutionality of the individual mandate, this budget will repeal the exchange subsidies in the president’s health control law, saving roughly $808 billion over the next ten years by abolishing the government spending and making sure that not a penny goes toward implementing the new law. The Republican budget will reduce the power of the federal government and give the people more control of their personal choices and financial futures. As a staunch constitutional conservative, I will always fight to ensure that our country remains in control of the American people, not Washington bureaucrats.”

RE: continued extension of tax cuts
The question is not what we should cut to avoid spending beyond our means.
The question is why this country, with its bountiful resources, favorable climate, and
hardworking and innovative individuals, cannot afford to feed, clothe, shelter, educate, and
provide affordable healthcare for all of its citizens.
Great job John! Thank goodness we don’t have a representative who has never read or understood our Constitution. In light of that I would hope you would reconsider your vote on the Patriot Act. It is being used to shred our rights to privacy and allowing children and women to be molested and photographed naked at our airports. The new software overlay is a sugar coating, the scanners still violate privacy in a terrible way. In Texas there were 22,290 railroad crossing accidents reported killing 2,031 and injuring 9,122 since 1975. There has not been a bomb on a plane since 1962. If we are going to spend our money on transportation safety, lets put it where it can do some good and actually save lives.
So please do reconsider your vote. I love my rights and do not want to be put in a position where they are violated at Bush or Hobby. Time to take a very hard look at what is really going on at DHS and TSA before we have our own road to Cairo.
