Congresswoman Susan Davis Looking Forward to Navy Centennial and Saturday’s ‘Parade of Flight’

Will join Senior Navy and Marine Corps leadership to view the air show

San Diego - Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-San Diego) will be one of the projected 50,000 spectators on Coronado this Saturday to witness the Navy’s Centennial of Naval Aviation “Parade of Flight.”  A senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, Davis will join military officials aboard the USS Stennis during the afternoon’s flight display.

“Watching the evolution of planes will be a live example of innovation in our country and how we, and particularly our military, have always been capable of ‘big things’,” said Davis.  “This is a distinctly San Diego event – our region is lucky to have been home to Naval Aviation and our dedicated military community for so long.”

On a related note, Davis recently welcomed a Marine Corps aviator to her staff in Washington, D.C., Major Amy McGrath.

“Working with Major McGrath and learning about her experiences as a Marine Corps pilot gives me an exciting perspective going into Saturday’s aerial display,” said Davis.

Major McGrath accrued over 1,700 flight hours in the F/A-18, has flown 85+ combat missions in both Afghanistan and Iraq, and is the recipient of 8 Strike Flight Air Medals, the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and Iraqi and Afghan Campaign medals.

This session of Congress, Davis added the Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces to her list of committee assignments, which focuses on Navy and Marine Corps programs, naval aviation, and providing the Marine Corps the equipment they need to get their job done.  She also serves on the Subcommittee on Military Personnel as Ranking Member and the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities.
