Committee Assignments

Congressman Kline currently serves on the following committees in the House of Representatives.

Education and the Workforce: In 2010, Congressman Kline was chosen by his peers to serve as the Chairman of the Education and the Workforce Committee in the 112 Congress. The Education and the Workforce Committee has a dual mission: empowering parents and teachers to provide our students with the best education possible, and giving American workers access to the tools and protections they need to meet the challenges and opportunities of the new economy. Prior to becoming the ranking Republican on the Education and the Workforce Committee in 2009, Congressman Kline served as the ranking Republican member on the Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions Subcommittee (HELP), which is responsible for all matters associated with the relationships between employers and employees, including retirement security and pension, health, and other employee benefits.

Armed Services:  The primary responsibility of the Armed Service Committee is the protection of the American people. The current fight against terrorism serves as a reminder that we continue to have enemies and it is imperative that we work with the President to ensure our men and women in the military have every resource they need to defend our freedom.
Armed Services Subcommittees:
  • Emerging Threats, and Capabilities: Issues under the jurisdiction of this subcommittee include DOD counter proliferation and counter terrorism programs and initiatives. In addition, the subcommittee will be responsible for Special Operations Forces, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, information technology policy and programs, force protection policy and oversight, and related intelligence support.
