I look forward to an economic recovery in which more Minnesota men and women will go to work than ever before. To see that sunrise, we must roll up our sleeves and remain committed to taking every possible step to spur job creation and enable Americans to do what they do best: create, innovate, and lead. Together, we can work to reclaim a prosperous future for all Americans and now is the time to make it happen.

This Memorial Day, let us honor all those who left us too soon, whose lives were cut short on distant battlefields. Today and every day, let us not forget to pay tribute to those true American heroes to whom we owe so much.

As patriots like the Minnesota National Guard's "Red Bulls" answer the call to defend our nation and provide freedom and stability to troubled regions around the world, we find ourselves with a new generation of American heroes. These young men and women join their predecessors who made the ultimate sacrifice in pursuit of freedom and a safer world. Last month, I hosted three town hall meetings throughout the 2nd district in which I heard from countless Minnesotans that they are fed up. They have had enough of the government's wasteful spending of their taxpayer money and are wary of Washington kicking the can down the road and ignoring our mountain of debt. And once again, they are tired of feeling pain at the pump. They want Washington to get out of the way so we can produce more American energy, lower gasoline prices, and help small businesses begin hiring again.

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" becoming law. At the time, I opposed the President's health care bill because it contained $500 billion in job-killing tax increases, massive spending, and mandates I believed would hurt our economy and make it harder for small businesses to create jobs and get people back to work.

Education reform is a pressing concern in Minnesota and across the country. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues on the House Education and the Workforce Committee to pursue education reform that restores local control, lets teachers teach, empowers parents, and protects taxpayers.
