Bonamici statement in response to President's speech on the "fiscal cliff"

Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici released the following statement in response to President Barack Obama’s comments on tax cuts and the fiscal cliff.

“Since Congress last met at the end of September, I have spent the past seven weeks hearing from constituents who want to see decisive action to promote sustainable economic growth and create good jobs. I applaud President Obama’s commitment to find a balanced approach to resolving important questions about spending and revenue. Our goal should be to make smart, targeted investments for a strong middle class--like access to education and training that benefits workers and businesses--and find spending cuts that do not impede economic growth or harm those who are still struggling. When we return to Washington next week, I will work with my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to find common ground so that Americans can feel confident and certain about their economic future in the new year.”
