2012 Congressional Art Competition Grand Prize Winner is Aimee Martini!
Congratulations to Aimee Martini for earning the 2012 Eighth District Grand Prize for her piece, “Peaceful Thoughts”. Aimee’s piece will hang in the Capitol for one year along with the other District winning pieces from around the country. In addition to the Grand Prize title, she will travel to Washington, D.C., tour the Capitol and view her piece, and meet Congressman Boehner. Aimee attends Lakota West High School in West Chester.

2012 Congressional Art Competition Guidelines
The 2012 Congressional Art Competition, "An Artistic Discovery," aims to showcase the artistic talents of 8th District high school students. The competition is open to students in grades nine through 12, who are residents of the 8th Congressional District. All suitable artwork will be displayed for two weeks in April at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center and all applicants will be invited to attend an awards reception on Wednesday, April 18th where the winners will be announced. Judging the pieces will be an independent panel of members of the art community in the 8th Congressional District.
Grand Prize: Artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol, along with pieces from students around the country, for one year.
First Place: Artwork will hang in the Office of the Speaker of the House for one year.
*Note - Students may submit up to three pieces of artwork but will only be eligible for one award.
There will be two groups judged: 1 – Photography, and 2 – Other Permissible Media. Each group will be awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention(s) awards. The grand prize winner will be chosen between the two first place winners.
Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, etc.

2011: Rachel Leathers from Miami Valley Career Technology Center took home the grand prize for her piece, “Creative Thinking.” Following the announcement of Rachel Leathers as the 2011 8th District Grand Prize winner, Rachel and her family traveled to Washington, D.C. for the 2011 Congressional Art Competition National Reception.While in Washington, Rachel met with Congressman Boehner, toured the Capitol and viewed her piece, “Creative Thinking,” hanging in the Capitol. Rachel graduated from Miami Valley Career Technology Center in 2011 and plans to attend Savannah College of Art & Design.
