Dear students,

Welcome to the “For Students” section of my website. I hope the information provided here is helpful to you.

I am always encouraged by the number of students who come through my office and write to me about issues in which they have an interest.

The 40th President of the United States, Ronald Regan, once said, “Good citizenship and defending democracy means living up to the ideals and values that make this country great.”

As you pursue your education, I encourage you to learn about the history of our country and about how our laws are made. It is never too early to get involved in the political process of our great nation. What decisions are made in government truly affect our everyday lives, whether they are made on the state and local level or the national level.

There are many ways you can be involved in government. For one, you can apply for an internship in any of my offices. Visit the internship page on my website for more information. You can also stay informed about how your community and your government leaders deal with some of the very important issues our nation is facing.

In this section of my website, you can learn about how laws are made, what bills are moving before Congress, how to get a nomination to one of the U.S. service academies, and much more.

As tomorrow’s leaders, you have so many opportunities before you. I wish you the best as you continue your education and follow your dreams. If you have any questions, please send me an e-mail through my web form, or you may write or call any of my offices.

Sincerely,

“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing.” Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States
