Isakson Again Receives Award for ‘Unwavering Support of the Family’

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., today was recognized again as a “True Blue” member of Congress by FRC Action, the Family Research Council group, for what it called Isakson’s “unwavering commitment and consistent support in defense of the family.”

Isakson received this award for his pro-life, pro-family voting record in the 110th Congress, which covered votes taken in the Senate in 2007-08. Family Research Council also gave this award to Isakson for his voting record in the 109th Congress, which covered votes taken in the Senate in 2005-06.

“I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the majority of Georgians who share these important values,” Isakson said.

The award is given to members of Congress who have exhibited extraordinary leadership and commitment to the defense of family, faith, and freedom, Family Research Council said.

According to FRC Action’s scorecard covering the votes of the 110 th Congress, recipients of the “True Blue” Award have a pro-life, pro-family voting record and took stances against funding of human cloning, passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, increasing funding of Planned Parenthood, eliminating the Mexico City Policy banning international abortion funding, passing same-sex marriage in the District of Columbia, and funding for a needle exchange program in the District of Columbia.

“Members of the 110 th Congress who receive this award have shown themselves to be consistent defenders of faith, family, and freedom,” said FRC Action President Tony Perkins. “I applaud these members for upholding the institutions of marriage and family even in the face of hostile opposition from the hostile liberal leadership.”

“Voters should be encouraged by the commitment these True Blue members have shown,” concluded Perkins.
