Adams Stands With Issa on Fast and Furious Lawsuit
Washington,
Aug 14 -
Following news that Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa filed a civil contempt charge in federal court against Attorney General Eric Holder for his role in the Fast and Furious investigation, Rep. Sandy Adams released the following statement.
"The Attorney General has consistently refused to work with Congress to get to the bottom of how and why the Department of Justice allowed thousands of firearms to walk across the United States border and into the hands of criminals," said Adams. "We already know that those guns were found at the crime scene where Agent Brian Terry was murdered, and we recently heard they may have been used in the assassination attempt on a Mexican official. The bottom line is that AG Holder and his office have stonewalled this investigation, refused to answer questions from Congress, including from me on several occasions when he testified before the Judiciary Committee, and refuses to acknowledge the oversight role Congress constitutionally plays in getting to the bottom of this mess. Lives have been lost, and we owe it to the Terry family and the American people to see that justice is served and that answers are given. I fully support Chairman Issa and hope that his action will compel the Attorney General to work with Congress and help us ensure that nothing like Fast and Furious will ever happen again."
