Coats Announces “Pack the Pantry” Food Drive with The Children’s Museum to Support Ronald McDonald House of Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) today announced that his office will host a food drive with The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis from Wednesday, December 5 to Saturday, December 8 to support the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana.

“A child battling a critical illness or injury is one of the most difficult challenges for a parent,” said Coats. “Fortunately, the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana makes it possible for families to stay together when a child is receiving treatments at the Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.

“This holiday season, I am partnering with The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis to help make life a little easier for families by packing the pantry at the Ronald McDonald House,” added Coats. “I encourage Hoosiers to participate in our ‘Pack the Pantry’ food drive and help us ease the burden for parents while they focus on their child’s health.”

“There is no greater investment than the health of our children and anything we can do to help provide these much needed resources is an honor,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “Philanthropy is also a valuable lesson families can share with their children – everyone has the power to help others. The rewards from that kind of involvement are immeasurable.”

“We rely on the generosity of our community to keep our pantries full for the more than 1,400 families who stay with us every year,” said Beth Johnson, Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana. “We are grateful to Senator Dan Coats and The Children’s Museum for their support and for helping families during a very stressful time.”
