Sen. Lamar Alexander (R -- Tenn.) spoke today on the Senate floor before the vote to confirm Judge Thomas Folkes, Jr., of Memphis, as U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Tennessee, saying, "I am pleased to recommend him to our colleagues. His performance has been praised throughout his career in the community of Memphis and Shelby County, where he's best known. His 'leadership,' his 'citizenship,' his 'high-professionalism', his 'courtesy-to-others' are the words I often hear. I have letters from bar association members, who say he has a creative and independent mind and from others in Memphis, who say he is passionate about the community in which he lives."
