  1. I was very sad to learn of the passing of my friend, Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii. The embodiment of the Greatest Generation, Senator Inouye was an American hero. When we last spoke, he said we were brothers. Despite the politics, you could always go to Danny Inouye for guidance and assistance. He will be missed in the Senate. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and his wife, Irene.
  2. May God bless the men and women of law enforcement for putting their lives at risk each and everyday to keep the peace and ensure our safety. My thoughts and prayers are with the friends, fellow officers and families of Cpl. David Gogian and Officer Jeff Atherly of the Topeka Police.
  3. My thoughts and prayers go to the victims of this tragic shooting in Connecticut. May God bless them.
  4. The Wall Street Journal agrees: given the importance and scope of Obamacare, the Administration should do a better job of implementing it.
  5. The Administration's proposed Obamacare regulations deserve more consideration. More time for a comment period will allow states and stakeholders to try to prevent problems that could harm the quality of care and our economy.
  6. According to the Washington Post, it isn't a death tax, it is a "posthumous federal levy on accumulated wealth." In Dodge City we call it highway robbery.

  8. Thanks to the Kansas Farm Bureau for awarding me the "Friend of the Farm Bureau" Award. We also took a little time to discuss the latest on efforts to pass a five year Farm Bill, the death tax and the fiscal cliff. Thanks to President Steve Baccus and Vice President Richard Felts for stopping by and for your continued advice and counsel.
