Senate Page Applications

I am fortunate to have the opportunity to sponsor young adults from Wyoming to serve in the United States Senate as official Senate pages. Students who participate in this program will live in Washington, D.C. and attend school with other pages from across the country. This is an excellent opportunity for a select few, civic-minded young men or women to learn about the legislative process first hand and assist U.S. Senators and their staffs.

Page duties consist primarily of delivering correspondence and legislative materials within the congressional complex. Other duties include taking messages for Senators, preparing the Senate Chamber for sessions, and carrying bills and amendments to the desk. Every page will have an opportunity to experience all areas of service.

The Senate Page School seeks to provide a smooth transition between Washington and the student’s home school.  During the fall and spring semesters, the School provides the necessary requisites for a junior year course of study.  Both of the summer sessions offer a Field Studies Program which provides unique educational and cultural opportunities.

Eligibility is limited to students who will be juniors in high school and who will be 16 or 17 years old on or before the date of appointment.   For the summer sessions, students must have completed their sophomore year and will be 16 or 17 years old on or before the date of appointment.  Certificate of immunization and general health assessment, completed by a licensed physician, are required. Applicants must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0.  Priority is given to Wyoming residents.

Pages are paid on the basis of an annual salary of $25,605. Pages live in Webster Hall, located near the Capitol.  This residence is $780 per month and includes breakfast and dinner each day.

This program is a rare opportunity that exposes students to new ideas, perspectives and issues as they interact and participate in government on a daily basis.
