Visiting Washington, D.C. is an exciting and educational experience. My door is always open to you, so please don't hesitate to stop by my office in Longworth House Office Building to visit with me and my staff. My staff can also serve as a resource in booking tours for your trip. Please fill out our online tour request form if you're interested in participating in any of the following tours.
The White House
The White House is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Washington D.C. and provides visitors with access to sections of the East Wing and residence. These self-guided tours are available from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fridays, and 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays (excluding federal holidays or unless otherwise noted) and are free of charge. Please note that White House tours are not available on Sundays or Mondays.
My office is happy to assist my constituents in arranging a tour of this historic landmark throughout the year. We ask that you please submit your tour request to my office at least four to six months before your desired tour dates. My office is able to submit requests at a minimum of 21 days in advance but limited space will be available at that time. The White House Visitor's Office allots tours on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Once our office submits your request to the White House, no additions or changes can be made, so please make sure all of your information is correct. Please note that submitted tour requests are not guaranteed and the White House Visitors Office determines what tour requests are approved.
If your group is approved by the White House Visitors Office, the White House will send my office a confirmation letter with the time and date of your tour approximately one month to one week before your requested tour date(s). Scheduling of tours is up to the complete discretion of the White House and tours may be canceled for official events.
The Capitol
The United States Capitol is a monument, a working office building, and one of the most recognizable symbols of representative democracy in the world. My office is pleased to be able to provide my constituents with tours of this important landmark. Congressional tours are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., except for federal holidays and Inauguration Day. Visitors have the opportunity to visit the Rotunda, National Statuary Hall, the Old Supreme Court Chamber, the Crypt, the Old Senate Chamber, and the newly built Capitol Visitors Center. Due to the high amount of requests that my office receives, it is highly recommended that you book your tour at least four to five months prior to your visit in Washington D.C.
The Pentagon
The Pentagon, also known as one of the world's largest office buildings, houses the headquarters of the Department of Defense and employs over 23,000 people, both military and civilian to help contribute to the planning and execution of the defense of our country. Guided tours of this important building are available to my constituents Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. except for federal holidays and weekends. Please make sure to contact my office at least two to three months before your desired tour date. My office is able to submit requests at a minimum of eight days in advance of your desired date but limited space will be available at that time.
The tour lasts for approximately 60 minutes and follows a route that incorporates the mission of the Department of Defense and each of its branches of service and allows visitors to see numerous displays that highlight and depict significant moments in military history.
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing acts as the U.S. Government's security printer and is responsible for the design, engraving and printing of all U.S. paper currency. My office is able to schedule tours of this important building; Congressional tours are available Monday through Friday at 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. throughout the year. Congressional tours are also available every 15 minutes from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. from May through August. Please make sure to contact my office at least four to six months before your desired tour date.
During the 40-minute tour, you will learn about U.S. paper currency while having the opportunity to see millions of dollars being printed. You will also be able to view the BEP’s collection of currency, printing proofs, a variety of stamps, Treasury securities, photographs, artwork and other exhibitions relating to the history of the BEP.
The Library of Congress
The Library of Congress tour is an hour-long, fully accessible guide-led tour of the historic Thomas Jefferson Building where your group will learn about the Building’s symbolic art and architecture as well as its history, its collections, and the services provided to Congress and the nation. My office can schedule tours for groups of 12-60 people, which are offered Monday through Friday, 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. Tours are also available without advance registration from Monday – Saturday, 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
The Kennedy Center
The Kennedy Center is the nation’s premier performing arts center and tribute to President John Kennedy. My office can only schedule tours for groups larger than 20 people but smaller than 60 people. The Kennedy center offers walk-in tours that leave every ten minutes for smaller groups. Group tours are scheduled every half hour until 4:30 pm weekdays and 12:30 pm weekends. The tour offers a look at the development of the national arts and culture center, and the life of JKF. In addition, guests get to see the magnificent theaters of the Kennedy Center, explore the Great Hall which sports flags from every state, and enjoy the great views from the Kennedy Center’s rooftop terrace, as well as view several renowned works of art that are featured in the tour. Supreme Court
A Supreme Court tour is an excellent way to learn about the judicial functions of the Supreme Court, the history of the Building, and the architecture of the building. The Supreme Court does not offer guided walking tours, but visitors are encouraged to tour the building on their own and take advantage of a variety of educational programs including Courtroom Lectures, a visitors’ film, and court-related exhibitions. Courtroom lectures are led by docents every 30 minutes, and are available Monday through Friday. On days that the Court is not sitting, lectures are generally scheduled every-hour on the half-hour beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a final lecture at 3:30 p.m. When the Court is in session, Courtroom Lectures are available only after Court adjourns for the day. Courtroom lectures are offered to patrons on a first come first serve basis
